Are ya sceered yet?

(1) What do PM Harper and Defence Minister MacKay think they are accomplishing with their mock bellicosity toward the Russians?
(2) Why were the Canadian media virtually the only ones to report on this side of the world a dangerous vaccine mishap that is said to have occurred in the Czech Republic?

A Tu-95 Bear strategic bomber and missile carrier (pictured at the right) reportedly flew close to Canadian airspace last week, and even though nobody thought the incident noteworthy at the time it happened, almost a week later it has suddenly become a big deal, thanks to ridiculous posturing on the part of both our Prime Minister and Defence Minister. To hear them carrying on and to read only the headlines, you would think Canada came to within an inch of being bombed by the Ruskies.

The Canadian Press started it all by screeching "From Russia with bombs"(they have since "updated" and removed that headline) and making a lame attempt to tie the incident to Obama's visit to Ottawa, but buried in the middle of their report is this mitigating reality:

Pilots tend to consider the intercepts a symbol of status rather than of hostile action, often exchanging smiles while taking photographs and video at 30,000 feet or so.

"Russian long-range activity is part of their training exercises and so we do see this," said Canadian navy Lt. Desmond James, a spokesman at Norad headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo. "We don't treat it as a hostile intent as much as a training exercise.
To look at Steve and Petie with those broom sticks propping them up, you wouldn't take them for hysterical types, would you? So what's their game? What are they setting us up for?

Reuters: Harper concerned by "aggressive" Russia

For all his wooden manequin qualities, it's surprising how Harper loves the word "deep". He is deeply saddened at the loss of cannon fodder, and he has a deep concern about the Russians.

The word, needless to say, has lost all meaning. No kidding, I looked it up in the dictionary and it's been crossed out.

Thanks to the New York Daily News the word "infringe" may become a junk word as well. There was a time when you wouldn't have got past an editor if you said in the same report that the plane "infringed on Canada's airspace" and "never crossed into Canadian airspace".

The same rag quotes Petie as saying the Russians did this "during" Obama's visit - "on Feb. 16". If they had any brains or ethics, they'd be embarrassed.

For the record: it happened on February 18; Obama arrived on the 19th. And it took almost a week for Petie and Steve to see, or be made to see, some political advantage in it.

UPDATE:
Ria Novista: Russia slams as farce Canada's statement on Tu-160 flight
22:02 | 27/ 02/ 2009

MOSCOW, February 27 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian government source expressed astonishment on Friday over a statement made by Canada's defense minister over a flight by a Russian strategic bomber near the Canadian border.

Peter Mackay said two Canadian fighters forced the Russian Tu-160 Blackjack to make a U-turn on February 18 as it neared Canadian airspace less then 24 hours before U.S. President Barack Obama was due to visit Ottawa. The Canadian minister said the move was "a strong coincidence."

"The Canadian defense minister's statements concerning the flights of our long-haul aircraft are totally unclear... This was a routine flight. The countries adjacent to the flight path had been notified and the planes did not violate the airspace of other countries. In this light the statements by the Canadian Defense Ministry provoke astonishment and can only be called a farce," the source said.

The Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, Col. Alexander Drobyshevsky, confirmed that all the neighboring states had received prior notification of the flights by Russian strategic aircraft.

Lt. Col. Vladimir Drik, a Russian Air Force spokesman, said earlier the Tu-160 flights were in compliance with international agreements and rules and did not violate Canadian airspace.

CTV: How were bird flu viruses sent to unsuspecting labs?

A standard flu vaccine, laced (accidentally?) with avian flu virus, was shipped by Baxter International, a U.S. headquartered multinational "health" corporation, to a research facility in Austria.

Lucky for me, I was able to turn the report over to a biologist friend in Europe, so most of the research and writing has been done for me (thanks!):
I did a search covering the previous month in Spanish, Catalan, Austrian, German and Czech pages and this is what I found. The last was in Czech and I had the first part translated because I wanted to be sure that the English versions resembled the Czech language version.

- Several Czechs threatened with bird flu - press
- No one infected with bird flu virus in vaccine tested in CzechRep
- "Lethal avian flu finds itself in the Czech Republic and only thanks to luck as it do not destroy people. The bioassay in Konarovice vaccine tested in the Kolín Austrian pharmaceutical company Baxter, which it develops. However, the vaccine contained the aggressive bird flu virus H5N1."

No news in Spain so I can't imagine why Canada picked it up. Does seem like a scare, really.

More surprisingly, I looked up WHO news and there seems to be no mention of the incident - not that I can find. You'd think that if there were any possiblity of a pandemic starting it would have been mentioned in the WHO news.

I looked up the European Centre for disease control and although their latest headline is Feb 16, there is no mention of the incident on their front page, nor in their press release section.

I honestly can't tell who this news is really for - it covers a lot of themes, doesn't it?
  • If there is an outbreak this way - it is not an NWO "conspiracy plot" it is either clinical error or a bad company covering up sabotage or stupidity.
  • thank goodness nothing happened and the company has taken pains to clean up the mess.
  • watch out folks, big brother can unleash a pandemic anytime he wants to.
  • avian flu can so easily mutate and become deadly to humans, I'd better not risk it and get vaccinated.
The Canadian Press is now reporting that Baxter has admitted to making a mistake, and the WHO "is closely monitoring the investigation into the events that took place at Baxter International's research facility in Orth-Donau, Austria."

Here's the really salient section of the Canadian Press article:
Accidental release of a mixture of live H5N1 and H3N2 viruses could have resulted in dire consequences. While H5N1 doesn't easily infect people, H3N2 viruses do. If someone exposed to a mixture of the two had been simultaneously infected with both strains, he or she could have served as an incubator for a hybrid virus able to transmit easily to and among people. That mixing process, called reassortment, is one of two ways pandemic viruses are created.
It's interesting that, while government and its agents can always cite "national security" when they want to hide something, corporations are able to cite protection of "proprietary information" when necessary to wiggle out of a tight spot. And that's exactly what Baxter is doing in this case.

I quite frankly don't know if the Canadian media should be thanked for bringing the hidden to light, or rapped for creating yet another badly explained scare that will drive balky Canadians to get jabbed and create further profits for big pharm.

Since there is all this experimental flu vaccine floating around, it's not hard to image that the bird flu incidents are artificially created with the aim of destroying smaller businesses and driving up the prices of the remaining saleable birds produced by massive factory farms.

But with all this talk, it may well also be possible that the passing of avian flu among humans will not be the result of mutation but of deliberate manufacture - under the guise of flu prevention - as a means of population reduction. And maybe the real accident is that the concoction got into intelligent, ethical hands.

A few more "mishaps" and maybe the day will come when people will be less afraid of the disease than they are of taking a chance on the prevention and/or cure. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Obama's song: new tune, same lyrics

It seems to me I've heard that song before; it's from an old familiar score ... (Sinatra)

It seems like just yesterday that GWB was saying the US has to reduce its dependence on oil, and now Obama is echoing George, while still horning in on Canada's Tar Sands the most destructive project on earth.

And of course what president hasn't firmly pledged education reform and improved health care?

The difference is that no one has done it quite so charmingly, so disarmingly as did Obama in his speech last evening. The man is one smooth cookie.

It was cool the way he blamed the American people for the financial crunch. They bought houses they couldn't afford and left the banks with bad loans. But he says the way out of the difficulty is the stimulus that will make the banks feel more secure about lending so that "responsible" people can buy homes, which in turn will provide jobs in construction, and so on.

Your personal debt is the key to economic recovery. So he's going to reduce your taxes so you can feel comfortable taking on more debt. It was like listening to the Music Man.

Yes, there's been trouble in Capital City with a capital T. Too many bad loans, you see, and we've got to make more of them! Why? I'll tell you why, my friend. Because debt is the "lifeblood of our economy".

Obama hears your doubt, your skepticism. But never fear, Joe Biden is watching. No more will stimulus money be squandered on higher salaries and other perks because "nobody messes with Joe!" Isn't that right, Joe? You betcha with a capital B.

Why it's like having a body guard so the big kids won't take your lunch money. Your only worry is whether the body guard will pick your pocket.

"It's not about helping banks," says the Music Man ... er ... Obama, "it's about helping people!" And all the people shouted, "Amen!" and some crossed their fingers.

Especially when he said members of Congress will have to "sacrifice worthy priorities" - cutting programs "we don't need".

Did you know that the cost of health care is "one of the main reasons corporations ship jobs overseas"! Obama says it, so it must be true. Therefore, he says, the health care system will be reformed, and he's going to meet with a lot of people who might know how to do that. But for instance, he says, there are things being done for Seniors that aren't making them "any healthier".

Cryptic or what?

Here's an article on how the US health care system works. Not much is going to change because it's a profit business. The insurance companies will get new customers who qualify to be subsidized by the government, and they might lower their rates if they are allowed to decide what they will and will not cover.

But here's what Obama knows about health care - the big "C" will be conquered "in our time". What else does anyone need to know!

Well, I'd like to know what "our" refers to, since billions have been poured into cancer research in my time, which is a long time, and yet more and more people seem to be dying from it. But I'm just a party pooper. Most people love to hear how cancer can be beaten, and Obama knows how to give the people what they want to hear.

Very early in on in his speech he pointed out that "our survival depends on finding new sources of energy". He said something similar when he visited Canada last week, but I noticed then as well as last evening that neither he nor PM Harper ever mentions the word nuclear when promising to fund "technologies" for renewable, "clean" energy sources. Surely he knows how to pronounce it, unlike GWB, so it's probably because it's a word that makes people uncomfortable. And the illusion of comfort is what Obama is all about.

The truth, however, is often found in the words that politicians avoid using.

In fact, the American Nuclear Society is saying this:

When used as an energy carrier, 9 million tons of hydrogen could power 20-30 million cars or 5-8 million homes. If we develop the production of hydrogen fuel to its full potential, we can reduce our demand for oil by over 11 million barrels per day by the year 2040. Only nuclear energy can produce hydrogen at large enough scales to meet future demand while avoiding the release of greenhouse gases.
Don't forget: Obama said that the country that invented the auto will solve the problem.

And the World Nuclear Association says of the USA:
Both government and industry envisage significant new nuclear capacity by 2020.

And of course, the Canadian Nuclear Association lauds nuclear energy as "clean, reliable, affordable" and "emits no pollutants into the air".

It may be true that nuclear energy does not emit pollutants into the air (although one has to wonder about the incineration process used for low level waste). Soil and water, however, are quite another matter. How much do you want to bet that a lot of money earmarked for renewable energy "technology" will go toward finding a safe way to dispose of nuclear waste? Because right now, all they can do is store it and it's piling up.

Watch this video to learn how nuclear waste is processed and transported in trucks across the country to storage facilities - located "in a willing host community". (Note: The nuclear industry always uses a soft female voiceover when communicating with the public.)

Okay, so far nothing has been shown to be different in the Obama administration except the guy out front. Sure he says he's going to wind down the war in Iraq, but Bush said that too. And sure he's going to "defeat Al Qaeda" in Afghanistan, but Bush said that in 2001.

On the subject of hunting down Bin Laden, Obama has done a flip-flop and hey, Bush did that too!

Last night we were assured in no uncertain terms that Guantanamo will be closed and the detainees would be fairly tried. If this is true, then why has Spain been approached to take some of them? That's another thing Obama didn't mention.

I laughed out loud when he said the US "does not torture!" Those were Bush's words exactly! But how clever of Obama to allow you to hear in his words your own definition of what constitutes torture.

Something else that's unlikely to change - U.S. Middle East Policy
From Business World Online (thanks to BeeSting for the link):
The only difference between Obama and Bush on foreign policy in the Middle East is "willingness to talk."

Otherwise, nothing substantial has really changed. It is the same policies which are nonnegotiable with regard to Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, et al. It is the same use of force, coercion, sanctions, intimidation, and threats, but this time with a gentle intro, that is all.
I once heard a woman who was married to a US marine refer to her husband, a trained killer, as a "gentle warrior". Obama has no military background, and is decidedly gentle in manner, but he will slaughter thousands in the next few years.

To do that, he will need a lot of help. And now I think I know why he praised the wonderful GI bill that gave so many (drafted) vets a college education, and later suggested that people who do "volunteer" work could be rewarded with college assistance funds.

Take a look at this video and you might get the picture too:
Obama's Plan for The Draft- MANDATORY SERVICE everyone 18-25

The more Obama talks, the more it seems he's just fancy aluminum siding on a White termite-ridden House.

Afghanistan: Another Military Cover-up?

Three Afghan children killed near Kandahar - four-year-old Juma Gul, 13-year-old Sadar Mohammed and 12-year-old Amed Jan. Two others were wounded.

Canada claims to be conducting an investigation, but spokespeople quoted by the media have already terminally muddied the waters.

From the Star:
The Canadian military: the children were most likely killed when they somehow came across unexploded munitions ...

Maj. Mario Couture, a spokesperson for Task Force Kandahar: "Our troops are conducting ranges frequently to maintain their level of competency with the weapons they're using ... All I know is that they did cover the ground (to) make sure nothing was left."

Villagers: A mortar round, fired from the direction of a Canadian forward operating base to the west of the village, landed among the children, who were on their way back from a local madrassa.

Afghan police: pointed an early finger of blame squarely at the Taliban.

That last one is interesting. Picture "the Taliban" strewing unexploded Canadian ordnance about. Gee, do the Canadians sell it or do they just give it away?

The CBC reports:
A Panjwaii district elder claims the children were killed and two others were wounded when they came across an unexploded Canadian rocket in the area around the village.

CTV:
Villagers: blaming Canadians for leaving the explosives behind and chanting "death to Canada."

Some villagers: accused the Canadians of actually launching a rocket that killed the children. (But note that these villagers are said to have a strong "Taliban presence", which presumably means they lied)

Afghan National Police Gen. Matiullah Qati blamed the Taliban for the incident on Monday.

Ah, perhaps the Taliban presence fired upon itself and blamed Canada. But no, that was a fed talking. The provincial police are saying something different:

Afghan provincial police official: children ... were likely scavenging for bits of metal when the blast went off.

And the Canadian military are backing them up:

Canadian military: "Unfortunately it seems they grabbed a large bit of ordinance and that bit of ordinance exploded,"...

(Note the misspelling of the word "ordnance". The media have dumbed down considerably.)

CTV,
quoting nobody, goes on to say gratuitously: The Canadians have strict protocols about performing sweeps after such operations to ensure no explosives are left behind.

Oh, oh. Are we admitting a failure to follow protocol?

Major Couture anticipates such a question but is caught between a rock and something harder, so he attempts to tell both stories at the same time:

"Small arms qualified personnel conducted detailed examination of the range sites prior to departing and to make sure the range area was completely safe for Canadians and local village members and infrastructure," ...

Couture suggested the explosive device may not have been of Canadian origin, since the area is littered with unexploded ordinance.
In essence, he is saying that the Canadians do remove their own messes but don't feel obligated to pick up anyone else's. In other words, it's their own hineys they're worried about, not the Afghans'.

Remember how we're over there helping to build a better world for Afghans?

Ria Novosti reports:
Some media sources reported the children were killed when a missile hit a house in the Panjwai village. Five other people were injured.

However Canadian media reported that the children may have died when an unexploded bomb detonated as they searched for scrap metal in the Panjwai valley. A local police chief said the deaths may have been caused by a Taliban attack.
So, say the Canadians did shoot wild and hit a house in the village; the story of unexploded ordnance would cover them, but it wouldn't cover the fact that they failed to sweep the area clean, so they would then have to say it was somebody else's ordnance, and they can't be held responsible for that. Or can they?

It might be better to go with the story that the Taliban attacked themselves.

Reuters does nothing to clear up the contradictions:
Canadian defence ministry spokesman: "Canadian forces have strict policies in place that prohibit leaving behind any unexploded ordnance and (they) make every effort to ensure the safety of Afghan civilians," adding: the area had been examined closely after the firing session.

So, hey, what's the point of an investigation? It had to have been that the Taliban fired on themselves!

But wait! Hold everything! It was the Soviets what done it!

The Globe and Mail gives the whole garbled story and then describes the protesters - whom CIDA, great Canadian giver of financial aid, had just recently visited:
Some of the protesters were hobbling on crutches, missing legs. Afghan officials said the dead children were residents of the so-called handicapped village. Land mines are the most common hazard for villagers in that part of Panjwai, where de-mining crews have struggled to clear vast swaths of land seeded with explosives during the Soviet occupation.

... Afghan officials say the disabled people in the settlement are frequently reduced to scavenging for survival. It's not usual to see boys collecting spent shell casings, parts of wrecked vehicles and other detritus of war to sell in the bazaar.

"These disabled people need money to eat,"...
Those Afghans may be disabled, and poor, but they're obviously telling nasty lies about the Canadians. Was it something the CIDA visitors said?

Glad I could clear things up for you with the help of Canada's glorious and free media.

UFOs going mainstream in Canada

Does anybody wonder why UFOs are suddenly a news topic in the Canadian mainstream? Is it because copy sales have slumped, or does something this way come?

Didn't Joe Biden say something is coming? A "generated crisis?"

If it were a fake alien invasion, it would need a buildup, right? Are media once again aiding and abetting the shock and awe requirements of Disaster Capitalism?

Sun Media:
Edmonton Sun: Record number of Canadians report UFO sightings in 2008
The strangest sighting of the year was in Wadena, Sask., in March. Two cars travelling on a highway there had to brake suddenly when both drivers saw a gray and metallic object fly directly across the road in front of them.
Toronto Sun: more of the same.

CTV: Record number of Canadian UFO sightings in 2008
... the vast majority of sightings turn out to be airplanes, towers or other known objects, but a few sightings each year are strange and remarkable.

Toronto Star: It's a steady bright light in the western sky, sometimes appearing to move or emit colours. It's been shining brilliantly for a few days, prompting the inevitable question: Is it a ... UFO?

And not to be outdone, today the Globe and Mail has jumped into the act, finally giving Paul Hellyer the attention he's been seeking for several years: Former defence minister says UFO proof 'irrefutable'

The Winnipeg Free Press is the only one that provides a link to the actual study pointed to in the original press release:
Record year in Canada for UFOs
Typically in 2008, most UFO sightings have two witnesses, most UFOs are white in colour and sighting lasted an average of 18 minutes. “Flying saucers” are comparatively rare; reports of triangles and spheres are much more common. The 2008 Canadian UFO Survey.

The author of that report and of the press release also claims to have written "advertorial and other copy for the Winnipeg Sun". Judging from all of the UFO organizations in his links list, and since, according to partner Geoff Dittman, his own research is confined to Manitoba, it would appear that he has compiled his report from their databases. But he also seems to be trying to draw reports of sightings in his direction.

Dittman says in an interview: "As well, the military and another government department (Transport Canada) also send us their UFO reports."

Well, if that doesn't lend them a whole pile of credibility, I don't know what would. (Sarcasm)

Still, you have to wonder why this issue has gone so mainstream all in a sudden swell foop - especially when there's been so much buzz that a UFO false flag attack will be the next "shock and awe" that will bring North Americans to their knees, handing over their lives to Big Brother.

Mind you, if you investigate the rumour it all leads back to one source.

The idea is that once people are convinced of the reality of UFOs, they can be made to believe a hologram is real, and when an announcement is made, accompanied by images of spacecraft in the sky, that North America is under attack by extraterrestrials, and the authorities order evacuations to military protected shelters, the dupes will be imprisoned in FEMA concentration camps complete with crematoria.

Naturally, these holograms will not be projected into your upscale well-heeled, well-educated communities, but into slums and areas of heavy dependence on public welfare. The rest of the population will be shocked into silence, and will not question what happened to the rounded up ones. Just as there is little questioning now of what happened to the poor blacks who were pushed out of New Orleans, and who now subsist on virtual reservations.

Even if a fake alien attack happened only in the United States, the shock value and restrictions on freedom would be the same in both Canada and Mexico, just as was 9/11. And even if Canadians are not sufficiently subdued, US military will be on our soil by virtue of the SPP, and dissenters could easily be transported to US camps - for their own good, of course.

But don't forget, Canada has in the past operated a large number of internment camps and "relocation centres", some of which may still exist and only need a little refurbishing. And of course, it didn't take long for Guantanamo North to be constructed for the Security Certificate detainees.

While it's good news that Adil Charkaouis has finally had most of his bail conditions removed, it seems a bit curious in light of a recent remark by Sophie Harkat, wife of Security Certificate detainee Mohamed Harkat, that these cases seem to have been hurried up. Could this be because it will soon be no longer necessary to uphold the farce of Muslim terror once a greater, external threat has been designated?

Is this why Obama is free to close Guantanamo?

By the way, the Vatican has announced that it's okay to believe in UFOs and aliens.

Even the return of Jesus Christ could be hologrammed if deemed useful to unite all religions under the Pope. See Project Bluebeam, a Holographic Rapture and the Prophet Hologram. This video points out that the barium in chemtrails may be the medium on which to project the images.

Here's a video tutorial on hologram production.

Popular Mechanics, which went out of its way to try to debunk the 9/11 truth movement (because they proved it wasn't an outside job) has gone so far as to lend credibility to the UFO phenomenon and even provides maps and instructions on what to do in case of a sighting: U.S. Map of the Top UFO Hotspots and How to Report a Sighting

Here's the most recent US sighting: Alleged UFO Sighted Over L.A.

Here's a discussion on the recent Texas sightings:
Recent UFO flap in Texas, a precursor to a false-flag alien attack?

And you've got to check this out for sheer weirdness:
Barack Obama’s inaugural speech predicts “extraterrestrial event” on scale of Iraq war says expert

Okay, the above does seem laughable, but remember when actress Shirley Maclaine was called crazy when she first announced her belief in the reality of alien visitors to earth? Is she now having the last laugh?

I've talked to people who have had UFO experiences, but I am not personally consciously aware of any (although I've had some pretty spectacular dreams about stuff flying around in the sky). My mind is wide open on this topic.

But the warnings of a false flag UFO event appear to be taken seriously by both believers and non-believers. And all this mainstream media attention gives me the willies.

By the way, Britain was just slightly ahead of Canada in bringing this out into the open - they have their own small group of researchers finally getting attention.

CBC can't admit Obama welcome a bust

I can't get over how the CBC fell all over itself yesterday helping to maintain the illusion that Canadians are ga-ga for Obama.

First they said there were "thousands" on Parliament Hill, then they said "1500" (and not a few of those were American ex-pats, and one American who didn't get to see Obama in the States, so came to Ottawa for the chance), but later on Peter Mansbridge felt the need to bump that up to 2500.

The streets on the route from the airport were literally empty, and there were people happily skating on the canal, oblivious to the passing of the presidential limo. This is what it looked like on Parliament Hill at the time of Obama's arrival, and a number of those little specks are cops and/or military. (From the Parliament Hill webcam)

Look how far away from the steps the barrier was set up. I saw Obama far clearer than any of them - on a blurry TV screen without benefit of cable! (Where else but in the true North strong and free would you be forced to pay a private cable company for the privilege of watching the channel you already paid taxes for?)

I doubt Obama felt the magic. He couldn't fail to notice the low turnout. But you'd have to be a special kind of dupe to stand in the snow for no reason.

After a couple of seconds of almost being able to see this latest manufactured celebrity waving through plexiglass, about half the crowd disappeared. That troubled the news folks who felt they had to make excuses for the departed. They've probably just gone to lunch and will be back later - cuz, hey, there's excitement out here! It's phenomenal. And later, well, you know, it's cold out - but there's still a lot of people here! It's phenomenal.

Not cold for Canada, folks!

If the planned local message to Obama to stop the war in Afghanistan actually took place, you didn't hear about it in the media. The only signs allowed on screen were the ones that said "Welcome" to Obama, and the only people shown on TV were the mindless sheep who said things like, "He'd going to make the world right," and "There's such a big movement you just feel you must follow him."

As a good example of the level of acuity of many of Obama's worshippers: when one man was asked "What brought you to Parliament Hill?" he replied, "We drove here."

Good, old, reliable Peter Mansbridge felt compelled to deal head on with Obama's shocking big gaffe at the news conference. This president may seem more polished than his predecessor, but he is no less a robot. "It's a great pleasure to be here in Iowa," he almost said, but he caught himself after the first two syllables and amended it to "Ottawa".

Mansbridge assured viewers that everything after that "didn't sound like he just learned his lines". Right on. It sounded like he learned his lines just prior to his campaign visit to Iowa.

Obama did not answer any of the questions asked, nor did Harper. They just wanted everybody to know that even though they don't know what they are going to do about anything, they will always get along and always be best friends.

Did you hear an answer when Harper was asked directly at the news conference if he would reconsider the deadline of 2011 re Afghanistan? Nope. You heard that it might take a long time to train Afghans to take over for themselves. He's already got his excuse lined up.

NATO has been training Afghans since at least 2003; how much longer will they need? By the end of November 2007 they were asking for Muslim help with the training, and they predicted that it would take 10 more years.

Obama merely said he is not pressing Harper on the issue. Seriously, does he have to?

Ignatieff, on the other hand, caught the drift quite well. After only a few minutes with Obama, he is actually considering extending the mission. From CTV:

The Liberal leader hinted that his party may not insist that Canada honour its pledge to withdraw troops from Afghanistan by 2011.

He said a 2011 withdrawal is his party's "current" position but said if Obama convinced Prime Minister Stephen Harper to stay longer, he would cross that bridge when it happens.

Obama said he did not press Harper to extend the Afghan mission.
What Obama did say was thanks to Canadians for putting "at risk your most important resource". See, most people would think that sacrificing your most important resource is a stupid way to do business, but a few can actually profit from it, and they are so very grateful to the stupid.

And this is the man everybody thinks will bring "change".

The fact that Harper is keen to make Canadians believe he can get along with a supposedly centrist U.S. Democrat in spite of his own far right values is proof positive that there is one single agenda moving inexorably forward, no matter what party takes office.

Another TV prattler likened the 1/2 hour spent by the two behind closed doors to the time that Reagan and Gorbachev talked privately for a few minutes. "And look what they accomplished!" he gushed.

Reagan played a role in bringing down the Berlin wall, but he also played a role in King Kong. Are journalists just a bunch of sentimentalist fools who love to exaggerate?

They just couldn't admit what common sense should have told them, that in both cases, it was all just a formality. A big show.

For weeks they've been fretting that, oooh, maybe things won't go well between these two "very different" men. Now it's obvious that all those fears about protectionism affecting Canada were just smoke screens. Anyone with any common sense knows there is supposedly no such thing in a global free market.

Needless to say, none of the media at the news conference asked about the shipping of trillions back and forth between China and the US, and whether the US is going Amero.

Are the anti-SPP types going to get what they want from Obama? Nope. He made a point of speaking about greater "integration"of Mexico, Canada and U.S. to "coordinate activities".

And all that talk about "clean" energy in relation to electricity can mean only one thing - nuclear - and that's been in the works for a long time too in both countries. Obama gave it away when he said that "carbon capture [from burning coal for electricity] is not cost-effective". And it's no secret why our First Nations people are out protesting the revival of uranium mining in Canada.

One thing is certain: both Obama and Harper relish the the task with which they have been charged by the global power brokers, that is to bend minds in any direction necessary to turn the majority of the world's population into impoverished slaves and/or blood sacrifices, and make them all love Big Brother.

Political Whore Kenney Refuses to Put Out

How did a sweet Catholic boy like Jason Kenney become a Working Boy?

Well, that's a mystery. One minute he's just a kid studying undergraduate philosophy at a private California university founded by the Society of Jesus, then in the blink of an eyelash he drops everything to rush home to Canada and become Liberal Ralph Goodale's personal assistant. Wikipedia

A Working Boy, of course, is no respecter of parties - he just loves to party. So it wasn't long before he was working the Reform Party, then the Alliance Party and now the ongoing Reform/Alliance Costume Party where everyone dresses up like a Conservative.

The Financial Post is said to have said that Kenney is "one of 21 Canadians to watch in the 21st century". I'll say he is!

He even strutted his stuff for the 2007 Bilderberg bash (List). Now he's a High Class Working Boy, (Call Boy, if you like) that the media love to quote, just as they did Gerta Munsinger (CBC Video) and Madam Heidi Fleiss.

Before you know it, he'll be on the cover of the New York Post like Spitzer's Kristen.

There's only one place where Kenney does not want to put out, and that's because he takes offence at anyone who tries to downgrade his professional status to "whore" (YouTube Video). Canadian Arab Federation and Palestine House Leader Khaled Mouammar should have said Kenney was "working" for Israel, not whoring for it.

Kenney is proud of working for Israel. It's the done thing these days. It's what gets Christian Working Boys instant absolution when they find themselves at the pearly gates.

Peter Kent, Michael Ignatieff and Stephen Harper, also characterized as whores by Mouammar, have remained silent, allowing Kenney to speak for Working Boys everywhere.

He takes his job seriously. Not long ago he started a cat fight when opposition MPs who had visited Lebanon dared to suggest that Canada should be open to negotiating with Hezbollah:

"Their idea of a balanced approach is one where Israel is always wrong," said Kenney. "This represents a totally irresponsible approach to foreign security policy." (CTV)
Hmmmm .... maybe he dropped out of school and took a job in politics because he's not really all that bright. Even a child could see that he condemned himself and his fellow Working Boys who think that a balanced approach is where Israel is always right.

Especially when indulging in domination and snuff orgies.

Just don't ever dare to speak the name of what Israel does wrong; don't ever suggest talking to the freedom fighters Israel calls terrorists; and don't call upscale Kenney a whore or he won't "work" for you.

Otherwise, feel free to enjoy your constitutional right to freedom of speech and association.

Allsorts

This is just a collection of things that have crossed my mind in the past 36 hours.

Someone named Rosina emailed to ask if Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada supports Israel, and the following is all I could come up with. I would welcome further info from readers.

Shoppers was founded by a Jewish family that still retains ownership of the chains in Israel, Poland and China, but the Canadian corporation is now owned by a diverse group of investors (including the Ontario Teachers' Association), and the stores are franchise-owned by individual pharmacists, so they would be a diverse group as well. http://www.shoppersdrugmart.ca/english/careers/franchise/faq.html

The CEO's and other executives would be employees, rather than owners. Which is quite a bit different from, say, Chapters/Indigo, where the CEO's are also the actual owners who proudly operate a visible foundation that supports the Israeli military. If you're wondering about boycotting, it seems the only thing to do is to avoid buying certain products that the stores sell - such as Garnier or L'Oreal, for instance, and other products that carry the 729 barcode or state they are made in Israel.

I guess one would have to ask the pharmacist whether a particular prescription contained medication imported from Israel. Here's some general information about the head office: http://www.answers.com/topic/shoppers-drug-mart-corporation

There's an interesting story about one of the executives, Andy Fass. Apparently he had "no particular ties to Israel" until he personally benefited from some cancer research being carried on there. So he personally became a donor to that research. http://www.cicweb.ca/canections/cancer.cfm

There's a very strong call to action on a listserve, directed at the local activist community, that you might find interesting and enlightening. It initially refers to this video: ' Worst economic collapse ever', but includes a few other pertinent weblinks as well - "Because there IS going to be that revolution you're all so hungry for yet so ill equiped to deal with."

The message posted by Matthew Moro continues:
"Obama isn't in place to bring any sort of change, he's there to pacify the population (specially a significant part of it) when all the negitive change starts to rain down hard on nearly everyone. Right now he's in his Bush pre 9-11 holding pattern, but just wait until he's got his ducks lined up..."
Joe Biden has been known to talk through his head in the past, but he was very confident of his lines when he said something's coming.

I spent an hour on a Greyhound bus yesterday traveling to Perth Ontario for a family event.

Guess what I saw out the bus window. Gawd forbid we should be allowed to have a nice, clear blue sky!

Judging by the bizarre design of these chemtrails, you'd almost think the pilots know that pictures are being taken and they're now putting on shows. (click on the photos to enlarge)

Within half an hour, the plumes had spread out into a mass of weirdly shaped fake clouds.

The eerie thing is that so few people seem to notice this going on. The world passes by as travelers read, play computer games, or yak on their cell phones.

=========================

Speaking of Greyhound, I thought they might be resisting the pressure to have passengers lists, but I was wrong. They asked my name and the time I would be returning to Ottawa, and the information was stamped on my ticket. No more being able to hop on an earlier or later bus if it suits you. It will now cost $15. to make a change in your itinerary.

And this was catalyzed by one or two incidents that may well have been manufactured to create the demand for more security (translated: invasion of privacy; tracking of citizen movement).

The extra rigamarole is causing a bit of a slowdown in the ticket lines and the buses no longer always depart on time. But the good news is that Greyhound is still resisting using X-Ray machines, and the drivers are as pleasant as ever.

Louis Riel's handwritten poems have been put on display in Winnipeg, thanks to the Metis who saved them from e-bay.

I've been enamored of Louis Riel ever since I saw Bruno Gerussi do a powerful representation of him on a high school stage many years ago. In fact, whenever I think of Louis Riel I see Bruno Gerussi in my mind. That role is not mentioned in Gerussi's media bio, but if you scroll about a third of the way down this page to the book cover entitled "Strange Empire: The Story of Louis Riel", you'll see that the face on the jacket is Bruno Gerussi's.

Saying without saying

The Washington Post has an article about the Israeli election and how Israeli voters are turning back to the right because they want the Palestinians cracked down upon. But is it inadvertent that they also point out the reason for the Palestinian resistance?

"The outcome of the election is that the way of the left has failed. The public has realized it was leading us to destruction," said Hanan Porat, a rabbi who has helped lead efforts to build Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank for more than three decades. "The Qassam rockets that have been falling are more convincing than all the speeches about peace." (emphasis mine)
Norman Finkelstein, who always says what he means, cuts through the Qassam excuse like butter. Israel's motives for creating a holocaust in Gaza:
You do not negotiate with Arabs. You give them orders. The Palestinian organization Hamas was becoming too moderate; it was transmitting, giving the signal that it was ready to go along with the two-state settlement based on pre-1967 borders. The leadership of Syria and the West Bank have also been making statements like this. So Israel started to get worried that it would be obliged to negotiate a settlement which the international community has been supporting for the last 30 years.
=====

Here's something Ignatieff should not be bragging about - his highly placed American connections:
Ignatieff himself has several times alluded to his ability to pick up the phone and call "friends" in the White House. And his advisers say that gives him "easy relationships, . . . instant connections" to people who have the ear of the world's most influential leader.
Only in America would this kind of self-aggrandizement give hope. Iggy has a habit of forgetting where he is.

All this means to Canadians like me is that we were correct in surmising that he's been sent here to help Americanize our political system while appearing to give a dam about anything other than global corporate rule and, oh yes, Israel.

Listen, if all Ignatieff needs is 20 minutes with Obama, it's purely ceremonial. They both already know their lines.

=====

I take it as a sign of hope that our young people are not enlisting in droves to serve in an accelerated Afghan mission under Obama. Apparently in the greater Toronto area, recruits are not coming from the poor unemployed, but some of what are considered to be the best homes.

This seems to say that Canada's well-off tend to vote Conservative and approve of the war, and/or that recruiting in universities, telling the big lie about "helping" to rebuild Afghanistan, has been mildly successful.

=====

The RCMP have admitted that firing a Taser poses a risk of death, "particularly for acutely agitated individuals," and has changed its policies to restrict use of the stun gun to where it is "necessary" to protect an officer or public safety.

Which has about as much definition as the bogus term "excited delirium".

I mean, really. I've seen instances when they weren't too concerned about protecting the public, but when are they ever not protecting themselves?

Dr. Ken Arnold, President Ontario Medical Association Toronto, takes umbrage at the déclassé term "union" being applied to his organization. With a hint of hauteur he insists that it is
"not a union, but an association that represents and advocates for Ontario's physicians and patients."
Now that's odd, because the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (isn't that what brain surgeons are?) says something quite similar about its organization:
A union is an organization of persons joined together for a common purpose, for mutual aid and protection ...
Probably a plumbers' union would say something similar as well (isn't that what urologists are?)

The good doctor made his statement in the context of assuring the public that the medical profession does not look down on other health workers.

Evolution or Revolution?

Lech B., who formerly maintained a news and opinion site called "CanadaWatch", has written in response to my decision to withdraw from hands-on activism and close down my other website, YayaCanada.com. In his letter he makes a distinction between Evolution and Revolution which I think you may find interesting, so I've copied it below these few remarks from me.

(I must say that already I am finding extra time on my hands because here at Blogger.com, all the maintenance work is done for you - more time to think, read, do a little community volunteering, visit with friends and family, and indulge my lifelong avocations: playing piano and painting.)

Lech does agree that some sort of serious, risk-taking mass movement is necessary in order to thwart a cold-blooded one world government. My feeling is that when the stuff finally hits the big fan it will not be organized, but spontaneous. To that extent perhaps it qualifies as Evolution, but it will also be Revolution (in the sense of a popular revolt that causes change), and it may not be non-violent (although property damage does not bother my conscience as much as physical violence).

I'm not really convinced that Trudeau's idea of multiculturalism was part of an international experiment with one world government in mind, as Lech seems to say it is. I think Trudeau was just a well-traveled, cosmopolitan, socialist type of guy who loved diversity and wanted all Canadians to receive and give equal respect for their perceived differences, as opposed to the American assimilation requirement that tries without apology to strip immigrants of their uniqeness.

What's happening on the international scene is the imposition, without the informed consent of the people, of a global economic system that will not take into account the social and humanitarian needs of the people. In my opinion, the market can be as free as it likes with regard to the flow of saleable goods, but human essentials such as education, health care (including dental care), roads, waterways, municipal transportation, local agriculture for food, water supply, electricity, and justice systems, including prisons, should be fully supported by the people through the taxes they pay, and monitored locally by the people. If these things go private, we should simply refuse to pay any tax.

We should also refuse to pay taxes for war. And the United Nations needs to get out of the war business. It needs to include all nations as members, and solve differences through negotiation without war as an option. Otherwise, it's a farce, a tool of profiteers, and a useless expense.

With regard to civil war - unfortunately, that's something each local population will have to iron out. If they don't want it happening, then they need to form a kind of abitrating body, and they need to instill a culture of non-violence in their children, through both parenting and public education.

But I tell you, as long as our own national anthem, in all its versions, is one big war chant, based on the assumption of an outside threat and directed not at our daughters but at our sons who are traditionally the warriors, I don't know what hope even Canada has for staying out of war.

I'm not big on flag-waving nationalism, but of course the planet must be divided up somewhat in order to allow self-management of distinct concentrations of cultures, languages and races. The current divisions are okay by me (though the people within them may well have legitimate beefs); the problem seems to be that local autonomy has always been thwarted by "white", English speaking, "Christian" meddlers, possessed of a false sense of superiority and entitlement, who prate about democracy but don't want to really be deterred by the practice of it.

I don't believe the world has too many people, or that multiculturalism is inherently problematic. For instance, if we have Asian or "Black" street gangs, it's because of our own attitudes towards immigrants and not because immigration causes problems. Remember, there were once even Jewish street gangs, but as Jews (and other immigrant communities) were less and less discriminated against their young people turned to more constructive activity.

Having said all of this, I now ask you to carefully consider Lech's recommendations based on his own experiences in both Poland and Canada:

I understand your decision, although I will miss your website dearly. Some months ago, I discontinued my Canadawatch website for similar reasons. My conclusions lead me to believe that I was trying to convince the convinced, and the majority of our population was out of my reach. Older people were deeply embedded in their traditional loyalty and stress-free lifestyles; younger ones cared more about their careers and entertainment than about their country and moral values. Opportunism and conformism prevailed on all levels of our society. This was very discouraging.

Culture is a backbone of a nation. Ours was neutralized by the "multiculturalism" introduced by Trudeau. I believe that this was an experiment, one of many around the world, to study future models of a society under the New World Order. Other experiments were run in Asia, in some Arab countries, and in many other places.

My personal "revolutionary" experience took place in Poland, during the "Solidarity" years. In 10 months, the movement grew to 10 million membership out of 14 million employed in the country. This was only possible due to Polish history. Poland was under occupation of Russia, Prussia and Austria for about 250 years. At one point, it was erased from the map. Unable to win by military means, people started to organize underground schools to preserve language, culture, and a sense of strong, national patriotism. And Poland was always predominantly Catholic. This tradition of national and religious unity allowed "Solidarity" to succeed, initially. -- In a multicultural society this would not be possible. -- And yet, almost from the beginning, the "Solidarity" movement was hijacked by agents of Western financial elites. Today, the country is sold out, the media are "embedded", and the people are alone, again. Outdated anti-soviet emotions are regularly incited and exploited on a mass scale in order to create popular support for American policies and in order to turn the attention away from important international events.

I have come to believe that Soviet atrocities in the post-war Eastern Europe were mild compared to future atrocities by Western states acting on behalf of their financial, military, industrial, and political elites to preserve the existing status quo. Although some casualties may play a role as a catalyst of a mass movement, I agree with you - as long as people here have still something to lose, mass movement will not take place. Since the elites control the markets, they will not allow this to happen.

Another point I would like to make is that all of us focused on negatives - things we did not like, things we criticized, things we wanted to get rid of. Nobody came up with a positive program - what kind of system we want to replace today's reality with. Something people could identify with and would support. This could be an interesting journey, don't you think?

In my opinion, a successful "evolution" (as opposed to "revolution") would have to include the following elements:

1. It has to be international in order to successfully challenge the international efforts towards One World Government run by the elites. Given the growing popular unrests in Europe and in other parts of the world, and given the approaching global recession, the right moment for transforming various national organizations into an international movement can be expected soon.

2. It has to offer a positive program - The World We Want - that will include social, economic, and political solutions and incentives acceptable to all, regardless of their nationality, culture, and religion. This is the only way to achieve solidarity among people of different cultures.

3. It has to be peaceful. Starting with international actions of civil disobedience, credit revolts, tax revolts, and warning strikes showing that people still have the means to paralyse the elite's economy; and ending with grassroots elections of local self-governments - with the view of creating an international self-government of the people.

4. It has to develop a strong sense of self-discipline and a strong awareness of risks. The requirement of self-limiting strategies needs to be built into the movement on the basis of a rational expectation that it will be infiltrated by our enemies and that provocations will be used to enable the use of force in order to outlaw and eliminate it. There will be provocations (both from outside and inside) that will attempt to push the movement into extremely radical actions. These will be aimed at scaring people, and consequently, destroying popular support for the movement by the majority-moderate part of the population.

5. An international body of peoples' representatives must be formed to coordinate the efforts. However, all detailed initiatives must be developed and accepted locally to avoid accusations of international meddling and involvement of foreign agencies. The movement will internationalize ideas, it cannot internationalize the conflict.

O Canada

They stand on guard for thee

If you don't understand that "national security" means "corporate security" and has nothing to do with your rights or your safety, then you might actually suspend all logic when Canada's secret police schmooze up to you and try to turn you into an informer by assuring you that it's not snitching, they just want to use your eyes and ears.

And it you're only 15 years old, that'll seem okay too. When it comes to putting down a different opinion about the upcoming Olympic Games in Vancouver, legalities and morality can also be suspended. Gawd forbid something like this should happen in Canada.

From John of Manitoba, who comments:

No wonder the cost of the Olympic security will be at least $1 billion, with yoyos like this running the show.
Top security risk for 2010 - Vancouver Island hippies
Police statements in the media about 'consulting with activists' are nonsense. Their clumsy and heavy-handed attempts to meet privately with individuals are causing controversy, intimidating activists and sowing distrust in the community. There are serious concerns that the police may resort to coercion and bribes to try and force people to inform on their friends.
Reminds me of the time a certain Lt. Finnemore wanted to have tea with me. That was in 2006 and I'm still standing in spite of my "steadfastness" in refusing to do so. Maybe they'll grab me if I try to travel overseas, and ship me off to Syria for interrogation.

The fact that I've been approved by the Canadian Border Security Agency as someone who is allowed to speak with Sophie and Mohamed Harkat at a public gathering or in court doesn't seem so reassuring in light of the following.

Matthew Behrens of Homes Not Bombs has deduced correctly from the behaviour of the goons shadowing the Security Certificate victims that there may well have been a motive other than "justice" that sprung the detainees out Canada's Guantanamo and into house arrest:

House Arrest as Intelligence Gathering Tool
The CBSA document then states that telephone taps are “most beneficial after a catalyst event, such as a residence search, interview, spot check or interactions during an outing or appointment. These occurrences, along with what the ISSC says and who they say it to, could be valuable information that leads to additional targets.”

Additional targets? In essence, house arrest becomes a huge fishing expedition for the government. Say Mr. Mahjoub is walking down the street, accompanied by a court-approved supervisor who is tasked with monitoring compliance with the conditions and reporting any breaches (hence making the well-funded CBSA surveillance completely redundant), and he bids “good morning” to a passerby. Does the passerby become the target of investigation? Does that individual’s photo, sent to Ottawa by CBSA, end up as part of an information exchange containing no caveats? Will it eventually be used if that bystander travels overseas and is detained at the request of Canadian officials for questioning, perhaps even torture, by the Syrians or Egyptians (the kind of scenario we have seen documented by two recent federal inquiries into Canadian complicity in the torture of Maher Arar, Abdullah Almalki, Ahmad El Maati, and Muayyed Nureddin)?
====================

Hey, not to change the subject, but you gotta check out Canada's new flag! (Thanks to Carolle, Montreal, for the link) In Venezuela, since the Gaza massacre moved Chavez to kick out the Israeli ambassador, Canada has stepped up to the plate and is now Israel's representative. Are we true blue or what! You and me - whether we choose to or not - we represent Israel, right or wrong.

Mind you, that flag is missing a few stars and stripes. Did you know that we are still not rid of GWB? He's been invited back to Canada to speak at a private affair. (thanks to Ron for the link)

The two dudes setting it all up don't have a website, an office, or even a recognizable photo. But you can bet they are approved by CSIS, the RCMP, the CBSA, the city police and the people who X-ray your belongings on Parliament Hill.

Other Crucial Stuff:

Kevin M. broadcast an email yesterday with the following comment:
In 2005-6 Monsanto used Millennium Villages in Kenya as a testing ground for their GM seeds. the following report I found on the Clinton foundation website confirms this. From my limited googling i can't verify if the Monsanto Millennium Villages Field trials are continuing, but regardless Monsanto already achieved their goal by using the Millennium village project to contaminate the villages with their seeds. ensuring that Monsanto can profit from the plight of these people for years to come. this is a disgrace.

follow this link and then go to the "search Commitments" box and enter Monsanto
I was immediately reminded of the report I wrote a couple of years ago regarding a group of African agriculturalists who visited Canada to beg us for aid without technological intervention.

Someone named Claude responded to Kevin's email with this:
As a past example of what may happen in Africa, please consider the 183,000 farmers in India who have committed suicide between 1997 and 2007 due to big feed and seed companies.
As I mentioned yesterday, Monsanto is also busy in Australia, and if the bush fires were deliberately set, as the police suspect, was it partly to dispossess local farmers who don't meet the 1000 hectare requirement to qualify for Monsantoization?

In Canada and the US, of course, it's a done deal in spite of Percy Schmeiser's brave fight.

Shock Therapy and the Global Chess Game

At at nudge from my daughter, I am finally reading Naomi Klein's book "Shock Doctrine". It's very easy to read, and it paints a clear picture of the global corporate/economic agenda and its callous use of "natural" disasters to render populations willing to accept it.

Klein does veer carefully away from any controversy surrounding disasters that are officially blamed on climate change, and certainly from 9/11 truth (she calls 9/11 a classic case of "blowback", although she does see it as the single, pivotal event that allowed the global agenda to dramatically escalate), but she doesn't pull any punches with regard to how such disasters are welcomed by "fundamentalist" economists who see them as opportunities to construct a new system on top of rubble.

In other words, the "born again", brand new world that Bush Sr. enthused about and the PNAC said would require a "catastrophic catalyzing event –like a new Pearl Harbor”.

There are two shortcuts you can take if you don't have time to read Klein's book. One is to see this hour-long video where she summarizes. Another is to visit the webpage where the reference materials for her book are stored.

Something else you should look at is the counter-intelligence manual Klein refers to, the result of experiments performed on mental patients at Montreal's McGill University by Ewen Cameron.

We may think that shock therapy was an old device used in psychiatric hospitals, but it is being used on you, personally, right now and without your consent, in order to invade your privacy and reduce your mobility and basic freedoms.

I've said before that I suspect the Greyhound bus murder was an experiment in mind control, but the target was not just Mr. Li's mind, it was yours and mine also. We are expected to be so traumatized by this that we clamor for passenger lists on Greyhound buses - the last bastion of relatively private travel.

The bush fires in Australia are already being used to the advantage of global economic reorganization. They will also be used against the poor and unemployed who subsisted in those now destroyed small towns, and to alter the demographics - that is, moving people closer to cities (the very opposite of what at least one Australian union wants to see), so that National Parks (tourism) can be expanded, aboriginal rights and land claims thwarted, and local agriculture can be squelched in favour of factory farming where Monsanto is making the rules.

Here are a couple of haunting echoes of (1) Katrina and (2) 9/11 in a single news item about the fires (emphasis mine):

(1) Officials have come under criticism for failing to notify residents of the danger or evacuate towns facing high fire risk on Saturday.

(2) The premier and fire officials defended the existing approach, saying no one could have predicted the ferocity of Saturday’s fires.
Klein says in the video: "What separates us from what we are up against is that we value human life."

If we forfeit that value, if we succumb to the fortress mentality of "us against them", we are all doomed. If we continue to encourage leaders who deliberately polarize us politically, racially, religiously, we are our own worst enemies.

The actual "them" is our own governments and not our fellow humans. The whole of humanity are merely pawns in a global chess game that will benefit only those who see themselves as the ruling classes.

In my apartment building, on every floor, there is a wall plaque informing the residents of what to do in case of fire. At the foot of the instructions, in large letters, are the words: "REMAIN CALM".

Exactly! The only weapon against mind manipulation is your own personal ability to remain calm and listen to your own common sense. If you've gotten out of touch with your god-given survival instincts, it's not too late to regain them. But remember, that can only be achieved in silence. Turn off your TV for starters.

Somewhere along the way in my varied reading habits, I came across this wonderful caution from the I Ching: "Even if all are terrified within 100 miles, the worshipper does not drop the sacred instruments."

And if you need another "authority": George Bernard Shaw is said to have said, "Common sense is instinct. Enough of it is genius".
