Thanks to John from Manitoba for sharing some articles and information about the Freedom Flotilla last week.
When I arrived home Friday evening and read his emails, I felt an immediate hope that the desperately needed aid would actually reach Gaza and for once there may be something news worthy to smile about...then I reached the email with a Haaretz report that Israel would attempt to block the humanitarian Flotilla before it reached Gaza. I had intended to post John's links and an update today about the Flotilla progress.
Never in my wildest nightmare would it have unfolded as did the horrific massacre of today.
It has always been completely unacceptable and outrageous that fisherman from Gaza working well within their coastal boundaries are harassed and fired up on indiscriminately and illegally by the IDF.
It has also always been completely unacceptable and outrageous, (besides a well known fact) that the IDF/Mossad assume no responsibility for murdering internationals at their discretion and recently bragged about the assassination of Al-Mabhouh, in Dubai.
Well, I am completely out of expletives. There is not enough hasbara or back peddling or excuses or the usual lies, lies lies to justify the cold blooded murder of approximately 16 - 19 international civilians in international waters, while delivering humanitarian aid.
Israel, your hubris will be your downfall...and the downward spiral has commenced.
Hubris: The definition states: extreme haughtiness or arrogance. Hubris often indicates being out of touch with reality and overestimating one's own competence or capabilities, especially for people in positions of power.

An Al-Jazeera reporter on one of the Turkish ships said the Israelis fired at the vessel before boarding it. The Israelis, who had declared they would not let the ships reach Gaza, said they only opened fire after being attacked by activists with sticks, knives and live fire from weapons seized from the Israeli commandos.

Free Gaza spokesperson Greta Berlin said the Israeli soldiers were shooting as they boarded. ... "What they didn't know was there was a live camera onboard, you can see them coming off the ship and you can see them shooting," she said ... Following the altercation, the Israeli military shut down all satellite phones on board the ships and a group of embedded reporters were unable to communicate from the scene.
