Blowback for B'nai Brith

By now everybody knows Galloway is suing an assortment of Canadian officials for defamation, including B'nai Brith's bigmouth, Frank Dimant. I don't really believe in suing people for what they say, but then I don't believe in making up stories about them to keep them out of the country, and without Galloway's action we might never have known what a standup comic Anita Bromberg is (the link is from Gary in Vancouver):

B'Nai Brith legal director Anita Bromberg said Friday she was reviewing the notice but said Dimant made his comments "in the public interest."

I wonder if she was wearing a Phyllis Diller fright wig when she said it.


Michael Ignatieff played good cop during the banning of Galloway. Still, it looks as if there are a lot of people who aren't charmed by our future Prime Minister:

Ah, but that was before he suddenly became a Canadian. Now he pretends to think like one. He'll default into the Prime Ministership only because that's what Canadians (and Americans) do - they swing like apes between two trees, except that the apes are having a good time. As it is, the trees have tucked us all into a handbasket addressed to hell.

Serendipitous Sightings

From Vladimir in downtown Ottawa:

A gorgeous photo of a wild turkey that jumped over the fence into his backyard.

"It looked a bit puzzled, walked around the yard a bit and then jumped the fence to another neighbor."

I replied to Vladimir that I had seen flocks of wild turkeys a few miles out of Ottawa running for their lives across the road in oncoming traffic. I felt sorry for them - squeezed out by urban sprawl.

And then I remembered seeing a young dog I thought could be a German Shepherd sniffing around the front of my apartment building one dark evening several weeks ago as I returned home. When I got within about 20 feet of him, he saw me and darted away, loping down the middle of the road and turning south, out of sight, at the next corner. Something about his gait, and the fact he was not wearing a collar, gave me a funny feeling he might be a wolf.

Vladimir responded with this photo of a young wolf he saw at the airport (in south Ottawa) a month ago!


It can't be a good sign that these gorgeous critters have obviously been driven into the city by housing developments.

By the way - Vladimir is the photographer who also gave us this lovely photo.

Family Seer

Did my (almost) eight-year-old grandson predict the future with an eye-pleasing arrangement of stones on a sandy beach in Spain? His mama noticed his artistry and took this photo:

Now the papers are saying there is "swine" flu on the loose not far from where my grandkids live. Swine flu is supposedly a version of Spanish flu that killed hundreds of thousands in 1918. I couldn't get over the similarities between Spanish flu and the shapes and colour of the stones.

Making people happy

The below quote isn't from my Inbox since people like that are afraid of everything, including email (which reveals the ISP). You may recall my Sunday sermon on Wednesday wherein I mentioned a blogger who wants people to vote for the British National Party that allows only white members, and then I went on to talk about the type of "Christian" "white" supremacist who worries incessantly about the plot to dilute the white race.

The blogger didn't catch the drift of much of what I wrote but was clearly so delighted to finally be linked to by SOMEBODY that he couldn't resist boasting about it:

"Some cheeky old bag tart with a face like a sack of spanners (whose armpits stink - unshaven no doubt - she reads Jung after all ) has had the audacity to critisize me."

This guy cracks me up. Seriously. I would never have linked to him in the first place because I don't like white supremacists, but he was so funny I hadda.
